Kemer sits west of Antalya, where the Taurus Mountains meet the Mediterranean. In a single day you can swim in the morning, ride up to a 2,365-metre summit in the afternoon, watch the sunset over an ancient city and end the evening in a warm hammam. We have grouped the best things to do in Kemer so you can pick what suits your style, and added a sample 3-day plan at the end.
Sea and Beach
1. A Day at Moonlight Park and Beach
Kemer's favourite spot is Moonlight Park (Ayışığı Parkı) and its beach, right next to the marina. Relax in the shade of the pines, swim in clear water and stroll along the seafront in the late afternoon. From the centre you can walk there.
2. An Evening Walk at the Marina
In the evening Kemer Marina is the liveliest part of town. A walk among the yachts and a drink at a café is the easiest way to unwind, and the promenade towards Moonlight Park is lovely at sunset.
3. A Boat Trip to the Bays
Day trips from the marina take you to coves that are hard to reach by land; most stop for swimming around Phaselis. If you feel tired that evening, read our tips on the spa after a boat trip or beach day.
4. Diving
Clear water makes the Kemer coast popular for diving. One well-known site is the Paris II wreck from the First World War era. Try-dives offered by dive schools are a good start if you have never dived before.
Nature and Adventure
5. Take the Cable Car up Mount Tahtalı
The Olympos cable car runs from its valley station between Çamyuva and Tekirova to the 2,365-metre summit of Mount Tahtalı. The line is about 4.3 km long, one of the longest in Turkey. On a clear day you can see the coast and the Gulf of Antalya. It is much cooler at the top, so bring a light layer.
6. Göynük Canyon
Just north of Kemer, the canyon at Göynük is perfect for escaping the summer heat. You can hike, swim in cool water and try zipline or rafting. The narrow sections need technical equipment, so guided tours are the safer choice.
7. A Short Hike on the Lycian Way
Part of the famous Lycian Way passes near Kemer. Walking the whole route takes weeks, but short stretches around Göynük or Çıralı make a great few hours in nature.
History and Culture
8. Phaselis Ancient City
About 16 km from central Kemer, Phaselis was founded by colonists from Rhodes in the 7th century BC. Its three harbours, Hadrian's Gate, theatre and pine-shaded main street leading to the sea make it perfect for both history and a swim.
9. Olympos Ancient City
With ruins spread along a stream and a beach at the end, Olympos is an ancient city you explore in the middle of nature.
10. The Chimaera Flames at Dusk
At Yanartaş above Çıralı, natural flames burn from the rocks all year round. Ancient writers linked them to the fire-breathing Chimaera of legend. They look most impressive after dark, so go in the evening and wear comfortable shoes for the path.
11. Yörük Park
This open-air site in central Kemer introduces the nomadic Yörük culture of the Taurus Mountains, an easy short visit.
Food and Relaxation
12. Lunch by the Stream in Ulupınar
On the road to Olympos and Çıralı, Ulupınar is known for its cool streamside restaurants, a good lunch stop on the southern route.
13. Spend an Evening in a Turkish Bath
One of the most memorable parts of a Kemer holiday is warming up on hot marble and being scrubbed and washed in foam at the end of the day. Vois VIP Spa is in central Kemer, opposite the town hall inside Vois Hotel, and open every day until midnight. You do not need to stay at the hotel. Read the steps in our Turkish bath guide.
14. Relax With a Massage
After the cable car, the canyon or a long walk, your legs and back will thank you. A Balinese massage is deeply relaxing, while a foot massage is a quick break. See all options on our massage menu.
15. Make the Most of a Rainy Day
Spring and autumn bring the occasional rainy day. If the beach is off, the sauna, steam room and hammam are the warmest plan.
