A Turkish bath is on almost every Kemer holiday wish list. The hammam ritual combines warm marble, a kese scrub and a rich foam massage, a cleansing tradition that goes back centuries. This guide walks you through the whole experience if it is your first time.
What Is a Turkish Bath?
In a Turkish bath the body warms up in a hot, humid room, the skin is exfoliated with a kese mitt and a foam massage relaxes the muscles. Since Ottoman times the hammam has been a place not only to get clean, but to rest and take time for yourself.
At Vois VIP Spa & Wellness you can enjoy it in Kemer centre, opposite the town hall and inside Vois Hotel. You do not need to stay at the hotel; the hammam is open to everyone.
The Hammam Ritual, Step by Step
1. Warm up
Start with a few minutes in the sauna or steam room, then lie on the warm marble stone in the middle of the hammam. This opens the pores and prepares the skin for the scrub.
2. Kese scrub
The attendant scrubs your whole body with a kese mitt to remove dead skin. If the pressure feels too strong, just say so.
3. Foam massage
Next comes a massage with clouds of soap foam that softens the skin and relaxes the muscles. For many guests this is the highlight.
4. Rinse and rest
After rinsing with warm water you rest for a while, or extend the experience with a massage. Our packages combine the hammam with massage and a face mask.
What to Wear and Bring
- A peshtemal (hammam towel) is used; our team will explain everything.
- Wear swimwear or underwear underneath, whatever you feel comfortable in.
- Remove jewellery and contact lenses.
- Bring fresh clothes and a moisturiser for afterwards.
Good to Know
- Avoid a heavy meal just before your visit.
- If you are pregnant or have heart, blood pressure or skin conditions, ask your doctor before using hot rooms and tell our team.
- No kese on sunburnt skin; tell us if you have sunburn.
- Drink plenty of water and avoid strong sun for a few hours after the scrub.
Package prices start from 2,000 ₺. See all options on our Packages page and the ritual in detail on the Turkish Bath page.
Getting to the Hammam in Kemer
Vois VIP Spa is on Deniz Caddesi in Kemer centre, right opposite the town hall. From most hotels in the centre you can walk. If you are staying in Beldibi, Göynük, Çamyuva or Tekirova, take a taxi or dolmuş to Kemer centre and ask for the town hall (Belediye). The drive from Antalya Airport takes about an hour, and a hammam is a lovely way to shake off the journey on your first evening.
Hammam Etiquette
The hammam is a calm place. Keep your voice low, leave your phone in the changing area and follow the attendant's lead. You keep your peshtemal on throughout. If anything feels uncomfortable during the scrub, just say so; we adjust the pressure, the water temperature and the pace for you.
Combine the Hammam With a Massage
After the scrub and foam, the skin takes oil better and warm muscles relax more easily. Popular combinations:
- Hammam + Balinese aroma massage for deep relaxation
- Hammam + classic massage for a first massage
- Hammam + back and neck massage after a long journey
